Icie Mae (Bise) Takacs 92 Galloway, WV- was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus on March 24, 2026, with her son Robert and Special Nephew Joseph by her side.
She was born on January 8, 1934, the daughter of Orsie and Gladys Irene (Booth) Bise.
Icie was a lifelong resident of Galloway, WV. living in the same house for over 80 years. For the past few years, she has made her home with her special nephew Joseph Mars and wife Melissa in Philippi, WV. They have given her the best care possible. Joseph even quit his job of 30 years to take care of his beloved Aunt Icie.
She was married to Joseph Takacs on December 24. 1956. They made their home in Galloway, WV. for their entire life.
She was preceded in death by her husband (Joseph Takacs on February 5, 2005), stepdaughter Elizabeth Takacs Hurst (Libby), her mother and father, sister Nancy (Bise) Mars, half-brothers Bill Bise, John Bise, Pete Reed, and Van Booth. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Esther Ellen (Ramsey) Bise.
Surviving are her son, Robert Bise, Sr.,(Belington, WV) , grandchildren Robert Bise, Jr., Jason Bise, (both of Belington, WV.) and Amanda Bise, (Wilmington, NC) , Bobby Hurst (Galloway, WV) two great-grandchildren Andrew Bise (Buckhannon, WV), Jaxson Robert Bise (Belington, WV), and one great-great grandchild Alayna Bise (Buckhannon, WV). One special nephew, Robert Joseph Mars and wife Melissa of Philippi, WV., one special niece, Tracey (Mars) Rickey and husband Shawn of Fairborn, Ohio; One sister, Elizabeth Ann Phillips (Tacy, WV); One special great nephew, Dr. Joe Farris, wife Ashli, son Miles, and daughter Amelia (of LaPine, Oregon) and one special great niece, Morgan Leija. (Delaware), two step-great nieces Paige and Madison Moats.
Icie was an avid enthusiast of ceramics, cross stitching, quilting, sewing, making toboggans by knitting (Donating to charities and anyone that needed a head covering), scarves, and lately diamond art, any kind of craft, she was into it. She operated Takacs Ceramics in Galloway for a number of years and instructed others in ceramics. She attended many craft shows throughout the years with her special friends, Don and MaryAnn Myers and others. She will always be remembered for her skills in the arts and crafts. She was a member and President of Galloway Senior Citizens for a number of years. She was also a teacher in Barbour County Head Start Program for several years. She loved flowers and worked in her flower garden for hours upon hours. She was the “hardest working person” all her life! She would work from daylight till dark with the best of them. She loved animals. She had two special dogs, Janie and Charlie that preceded her in death. She loved feeding birds and watching them through her bay window where she would sit for hours working on crafts and watching the birds.
She loved children and raised several that were not her own. She provided a home and helped raise Joseph and Tracey Mars, who she treated as her own. She was always willing to help others, and she loved everyone she met. She was a Christian by Faith and believed in Jesus Christ.
Family will receive friends at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday March 27, from 6-8:00 pm and on Saturday March 28, from 11:00 am- 1: 00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Shelton officiating. Icie will be laid to rest beside of her husband in the Flemington I.O.O.F Cemetery.
