James D. Mitchell age 84 a resident of Meadowview Manor of Bridgeport passed away Sunday April 5, 2009 in United Hospital Center. He was born December 22, 1924 in Grafton, WV a son of the late Elihue and Trona (Cross) Mitchell. He was united in marriage June 14, 1944 in Oakland MD. to his wife of 65 yrs. Verlin (Moats) Mitchell who survives in Shinnston. He s survived by four sisters; Opal Berger of Spring, TX

Lela Reed of Elkins
Violet Mouser of Philippi
One brother-in-law; Delbert Moats of Fairmont
Several nieces and nephews
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by one daughter Pamela Ann Mitchell on March 21, 1956, four brother; Elbern, Wilburn, Harry, and Carl Mitchell, four sisters; Edna Mitchell, Thelma and Agnes Keller and Rita Kennedy.
Mr. Mitchell was an engineer for the B & O Railroad in Grafton fro 41 yrs. He was a member of the Grafton Masonic Lodge # 15 AF & AM with over 50 yrs of membership.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi, WV on Tuesday April 7 from 5-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday April 8, from 8-11:00 a.m. the service hour with Speaker Don Fitzwater officiating. Interment will follow in the Clemtown Cemetery with the Grafton Masonic Lodge # 15 AF & AM conducting graveside rites. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.wrightfuneralhomeservices.com.
