L. Joan Casto

February 17, 1934 ~ September 27, 2010

L. Joan Casto, age 76, a resident of Rt. 2 Tacy Community, Philippi departed this life after many hard fought battles, Joan Casto has finally claimed victory to return home to her heavenly father. Surrounded by friends and family, "Nan" was peacefully called home to join her beloved husband, Kenneth "Pap" Casto on September 27, 2010. She was born February 17, 1934 in Barbour Co. a daughter of the late Clarence Boyd and Lela Mae (Hoffman) Bolton. Joan was united in marriage on June 16, 1951 to her husband of 58 yrs. Kenneth Casto who preceded her in death on July 17, 2009. Surviving are; Two daughters: Judy Simmons and husband Kent "Cricket" Jane Floyd and husband Bill both of Philippi One brother: Donald Bolton and wife June of Willington, S.C. Granddaughters: Jamie Jo Carpenter and husband Brian of Junior Candi Powers and husband Bill of Elkins Jennifer Collier and husband Daniel of Mt. Liberty Community, Philippi Crystal Schaefer and husband Brian of Coalton Latisha Simmons and companion Josh Farrar of Moatsville Grandson: K.C. Hall of Morgantown Great grandchildren: Travis Powers, Samantha Jo Esposito, Kaithlyn Powers, Kyatt Bailey, Chase Collier, Addie Jo Powers, Teagan and Treven Schaefer Step great grandchildren: Cody Farrar, Nikki Farrar Special cousin: Bobby Shaw and wife Suzie of Monroe, NC Best friend: Sharon McBee of East Rochester, OH Several nieces and nephews Joan was the former owner of the Jiffy Mart in Belington, she was a member of the Dorcas Rebakah Lodge #275, past president of the WV Rebakah Assembly, Tacy CEOS. She was a member of the Tacy United Methodist Women and the Tacy United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home on Tuesday September 28, from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday September 29, from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and on Thursday September 30, from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. the service hour with Rev. William Smith. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Cemetery at Tacy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Hospice 1800 Crim Ave. Belington, WV 26250.

    I am truly sorry to hear about your mom. She was a wonderful person and boss. She is the reason I am where I am today in life. She was an inspiration to me when I worked for her at the store.
