Lemuel G. Jones

Lemuel Glen Jones, age 64, a resident of Philippi, passed away Tuesday May 9, 2023 at his residence with his wife Debbie by his side. Lemuel was born November 28, 1958 in Randolph County, a son of the late Bernard S. and Ottis B. (Murphy) Jones. Lemuel was united in marriage on April 17, 1982 to his wife of 41 years Debbie (Williams) Jones who survives at home. Also surviving is brother, Charles O. Jones and wife Phyllis of Philippi; two sisters-in-law, Karen and Mike Spotloe, and Becky Shreves; two brothers-in-law Harry and Cathy Williams and Jerry and Michelle Williams, and several nieces and nephews; special friend Bob Cleavenger whom Lemuel thought of like a brother. Lemuel was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Ottis Jones; father and mother-in-law, Harry and Margaret Williams Lemuel was a former City Police officer for the City of Philippi, retired from the State of WV Department of Weights and Measures. He worked in helping the EOM and Philippi Task Force radio selection and installation. He was a former airplane pilot, he enjoyed fishing and socializing with friends at the Philippi Inn Restaurant. Lemuel enjoyed working with computers, electronics, and two-way radios. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday May 11, from 3- 8 pm. A private graveside service will be held at the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
