Lysbeth Sue LoBello, age 84, a resident of Philippi, passed away Monday December 6, 2021 in United Hospital Center. Sue was born January 9, 1937 in Buckhannon, WV a daughter of the late Archie Austin and Mary Glenn (Hicks) Snyder. Surviving is Daughter, Jan Rochelle (Stemple) Sutton and husband James R. of Philippi Son, Phillip Rodney Stemple and wife Tamula Renee of Philippi Step daughter, Julie Cullen Stepson, John Vincent LoBello and wife Pla Sisters, Margaret “Marg” Poole and husband Bob of Bradenton, FL Rebecca “Becky” Waskis and husband Tom of Fairmont Brother, Arch Snyder and wife Jamie of Adingdon, VA William “Bill” Snyder and wife Judy of Salem, VA Three grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren Five great grandchildren Sue was preceded in death by husband Leonard V. LoBello; son, Douglas Vance Stemple Sue retired from Barbour County Schools as a teacher, she taught WV History and had several Golden Horseshoe recipients. She enjoyed playing Bridge, she enjoyed tending to her yard and flowers. Sue volunteered at Adaland Mansion, she loved decorating trees and her home for Christmas which was her favorite holiday. She was a member of the Philippi Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir and well as the Community Blue and Gray. Growing up she sang with her Brothers, and Sisters in several churches. Sue attended Barbour County Schools, Preston County Schools and graduated from Fairmont Senior High School, she was a graduate of Fairmont State College and received a degree in History. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday December 9, from 5-8 pm and on Friday December 10, from 8 am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm with Pastor Jon Villers. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. The family ask while in attendance that face covering be worn.

  1. Mrs. LoBello was the best history teacher I ever had. She was such a kind person. Sad to hear of her passing but looking forward to seeing her again in heaven one day. Prayers for the family and friends missing her today.

  2. Sue was a sweetheart, always looked so pretty and I enjoyed our time singing together in the B&G Community Choir. Extending my deepest sympathies to all her family and pray God will bring you comfort thru your time of grieving.
