Elaine was born on July 30, 1950, in Moatsville, a daughter of the late Lincoln and Jacklyn (Rhoden) Bolyard. On May 27, 1972, she married the love of her life, Alan Jack Gray, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Alan; two sons who made her so proud, Wesley Gray and wife Crystal, and Adam Gray and wife Lindsay; and four cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Ava, Olivia, and Colin, who brought her endless joy. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Beeson, and sister-in-law, Patricia Bolyard.
A 1968 graduate of Philip Barbour High School, Elaine went on to dedicate 42 years of her career to the Barbour County Board of Education, where she served as Finance and Retirement Program Administrator. Her work was marked by integrity, kindness, and a deep commitment to the staff she supported.
Elaine was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and found great joy in her quilting community as part of the Eye of the Needle Quilt Guild. She loved to sew, quilt, and cook, and her home was often filled with the warmth of her creations and the laughter of those she loved. Family meant everything to Elaine—she never missed a chance to share stories, offer encouragement, or gather everyone around the table.
Elaine will be remembered for her gentle heart, unwavering faith, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her. Her legacy lives on through her family, her friendships, and the countless lives she touched.

So sorry to hear of Elaine’s passing. Sending thoughts, prayers and condolences to her husband, Alan and family. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her for many years through our work with the school system. I’m from Tucker County and we spoke often about school issues and shared rides to our out of town meetings. Spoken often about our families. She shared so much of her expertise of her work skills. Her joy and laughter was so contagious. She will be missed! RIP my friend🙏🏻
