Mary Henley, Age 86, A resident of Madison Ohio, Passed away Sunday March 1, 2026, In Divine Living nursing home in Madison Ohio.
Mary was born November 14, 1939, in Rosemont WV a daughter of Bedford Wilfong Sr. and Mary Magdeline(Trusler) Wilfong
Mary was twice married, First to Fred Harmon McGee who preceded her in death on January 3, 1981, Second to William Henley, who preceded her in death on Feb 18, 2012.
Mary is survived by her two Sons, Mickey McGee and Wife: Carla of Thompson Ohio; Son, Fred McGee Jr of Myrtle Beach South Carolina; Daughter Kathy Guttierrez of Mayfield Heights Ohio. Grandchildren: Anthony McGee and Wife: Karen, Brian McGee, Nicholas McGee. Great grandchildren: Logan McGee and Emmy McGee, Siblings: Shirley Frum, John Wilfong.
Mary was Preceded in death by her Parents: Bedford and Mary Wilfong, siblings: Icy, Louise, Bedford Jr, Denver, George, Raymond, Charles, Nettie, Janet, Velva and Harold.
Mary moved to Ohio in 1958, she enjoyed life as a wife and mother and eventually got a job as a rural mail carrier, delivering mail in Thompson, Ohio. She retired in 1983 and
moved to Decherd Tennessee. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was an active member in the Providence Methodist Church, she participated in many community activities, including helping to fund raise and start the Oak Grove Fire Department. In 2016, Mary moved to Madison Ohio.
Mary’s lifelong interests included Cooking and baking, She was always interested in trying new recipes or making old favorites. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, crocheting and quilting. She loved to travel and went on many, many, many trips. After she first moved to Ohio, multiple trips were made yearly back to West Virginia and Grandpa’s Cabin. Some trips included fishing trips to Canada, Sightseeing trips to Washington DC and Boston MA. After moving to Tennessee, her travel adventures included Florida, Branson Missouri, a road trip to California and some Bahama cruises. Later in life, after she returned to Ohio, her travel pattern included trips to visit family in West Virginia and Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed watching sports, including golf, baseball, softball, and football. She loved playing cards with family and friends, and she made friends feel like family wherever she was.
Family and Friends will be received on Saturday March 7, 2026, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N Walnut St. Phillippi, WV 26416. Services will start at 12:00pm, interment to follow at Flemington Cemetery 100F in Flemington WV, Lunch to be provided at Southern Baptist Church of Phillippi, 4 Blackwater Ln, Phillippi WV, 26416.
