Mary Logsdon

October 4, 1928 ~ June 13, 2010

Mary Kathleen "Kate" Logsdon, age 81 a resident of S. Main St. Philippi and formerly of Pennsboro, passed away Sunday June 13, 2010 in the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg following a brief illness. She was born on October 4, 1928 in Grafton, WV a daughter of the late Benjamin Spurgeon and Gladys (Robison) Spurgeon Harris. She was united in marriage to Vernon "Bill" Logsdon who preceded her in death on April 27, 1976. Surviving is: One daughter: Linda L. Riffle of Gainsville, GA One son: Michael L. Logsdon and wife Peggy, of Oakland, MD Five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her step-father: Gilbert Harris and half-brother: Jim Harris. Kate was reared in Pennsboro, WV and attended Pennsboro Schools. She worked at the Barbour County State Road for eight years, and later in the Alderson- Broaddus College Library for 14 years. Kate enjoyed to babysit and did for several families in the Philippi area. She attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, in Philippi. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday June 16, from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday June 17, from 8-11 a.m. the service hour with Rev. Linda Payton officiating. Interment will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in West Union, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 122 South High Street, Morgantown WV 26501
