Minnie Marie Knight

Minnie Marie Knight, age 92, a resident of Philippi passed away Friday December 13, 2024, in St. Joseph Hospital in Buckhannon. Marie was born September 28, 1932, in Philippi, a daughter of the late Willard and Lena (Mouser) Poling. Marie was united in marriage on February 16, 1952, to Denzil Lee Knight who preceded her in death in 1995. Marie attended the Rockford Church and currently Jerusalem United Methodist Church, she enjoyed gardening, canning, hunting and helping around the farm. Marie is survived by her k-9 companion Bailey; children Richard Dale Knight, Edward Dennis Knight, and James Keith Knight and wife Lisa; grandchildren Steven Lynn Knight and wife Summer, David Lynn Knight, Jerry Lee Knight, Courtney Lee Knight, Katherine Marie Knight, Casey Lee Knight, Dylan Keith Knight; great grandchildren Darcy and Ethan Knight, Madisan Renee Knight, Racer Lynn Knight, Taylnn Marie Kight, Noah William Knight; sisters Janet Mae Wilson, and Wanda Rose Jack. Marie was preceded in death by her parents Willard and Lena Poling; husband Denzil Knight; siblings Nada Pauline McQueeney, Robert Denzil Poling, Willard Ray Poling, Naomi Ruth Hinchman Zirkle; sons William “Bill” Lynn Knight, Gary Lee Knight; grandson Larry Lynn Knight. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday December 16, from 5-8 pm and on Tuesday December 17, from 8 am- 2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm with Pastor Sam Haught and Pastor Cindy Morgan Roberts. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Cemetery.

  1. Prayers of peace for her family, She was a special lady who I respected very much. she was always very kind to me and in my early years listened to me when I needed it most. She raised a wonderful family.
