Norma Jean Jones, age 79, a resident of Rt. 4 Philippi passed away Sunday June 30, 2013 in the United Hospital Center. She was born August 6, 1933 in Barbour Co. a daughter of the late Noel A. and Georgie (Andrick) Poling. Norma was united in marriage May 2, 1951 to Ralph Lee Jones who preceded her in death on March 15, 2010. Surviving is;
One daughter; Valli Davis and husband Rocky of Philippi
Two sons; Tom Jones and wife Mary of Mill Creek
Richard Jones and wife Jackie of Belington
Six sisters and two brothers; Dorothy Daugherty and husband Hugh of Philippi
Mary Burner and husband Olen “Bud” of Marietta, OH.
Noel Poling and wife Linda of Salamanca, NY
Carol Schreckengost and husband Bill of Salamanca, NY
Virgil Poling of Salamanca, NY
Donna Stevens and husband Raymond of Sierra Vista, AZ
Sharon Johnson and husband Carl Davis of TN
Nancy Pierce and husband Larry of Salamanca, NY
Nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild
Norma was preceded in death by two sisters; Theressa Weidlich, and Ruth Carter, and sister-in-law, Sue Poling.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at Broaddus Hospital, was the owner and operator for the Lady Slipper and was also a homemaker. Norma enjoyed quilting, bible study and most of all her family. She was a member of the Union Church of Christ.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday July 3, from 4-8 pm and on Thursday July 4, from 8 am- 2 pm the service hour with Evangelist R. D. Ice officiating. Interment will follow in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery. The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Union Church of Christ Rt. 1 Box 275 C Philippi, WV 26416.

Valli, Richard, Tom and families, We are sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I saw in Inter Mt. paper. I had seen where you wrote in the column she had been sick. I know losing your mom is hard, but you know she is in a better place and with Ralph once again. You have lots of good memories to look back on and share with the younger ones in the family. God Bless all of you and comfort you at this sad time.
