Richard Lee Thorne, age 54, a resident of Harrisonburg, VA, passed away Saturday July 5, 2025 in the Sentare RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA. Richard was born September 19, 1970 in Ashtabula, OH a son of Ronald Lee and Sylvia Kathleen (Zirkle) Thorne.
Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved his children. Richard grew up in Barbour County and attended Barbour County Schools.
Richard is survived by his children Stephanie Thorne Royer and spouse Rachelle of Grottoes, VA, Timohty Thorne of Brandywine WV; grandchild Paisley Royer; siblings Rhonda Brewer and spouse David of Fairmont, Renee Thorne of Buckhannon, Rodney Thorne of Volga; several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Sylvia Thorne, infant brother Timothy Lynn Thorne.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday July 10, at 1 pm in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery 2884 Buckhannon Rd. Philippi, WV 26416

Sorry to hear of Richard’s death. Thinking of you all! I haven’t seen any of you since we were kids. You used to be neighbors in Flemington. My sister Shirley used to babysit you all. Again, sorry for your loss.
