Robert “Bobby” W. Green , age 92, lifetime resident of Philippi, passed away on Saturday November 15, 2025.  He was born on November 15, 1933 in Philippi, WV, a son of the late Jesse Waitman and Winie Leah (Zinn) Green. A graduate of Philippi High School class of 1951, Mr. Green worked as a milkman for over 30 years for Glen Dairy.  He later retired from Broaddus Hospital maintenance department and continued to farm.  He served as treasurer of Mount Olive Cemetery for 50 years.  He attended Mount Olive Church.

 

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his wife Waneta Geneva (Abel) Green.  He was also preceded in death by one son, Philip Ross Green and grandson Michael Green Fonte.  Surviving daughter Patricia Springer and son-in-law Dean Springer, son James Green, grandchildren Catherine Fahey (Michael), Christina Hillsberg (Ryan), Taylor Green (Kelly), Alex Green, Andrew Green, and Allyson Green.  Great-grandchildren Cedar Fahey, Arius Hillsberg, Geneva Hillsberg, and Harrison Green.  Mr. Green was preceded in death by five sisters; Ruth Markley, Pearl Titchnell, Goldie Stewart, Gladys Cleavenger, and Betty Sutton; six brothers Kenneth Green, Dorsey Green, Karl Green, William Green, Ralph Green, and Paul Green.

 

Family will receive friends at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday November 17, from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday November 18, from 11 am- 2 pm.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.

  1. RIP Bobby, I will never forget you. You was a Wonderful Man. I always loved working with you at Broaddus Hospital. But I love the way you took care Abel until she passed away. You loved your farm. I see you again when God ready for me.

Thank you for remembering my Mother, Frances Findley, RN, when she helped to provide home care for one of your dying sisters. Thank you for telling me the history of the little Findley Farm House being built by your Grandfather Green for one of his younger daughters as a wedding gift c. 1903. Wish your stories could have been told on NPR’s Story Core❤️. Sending my condolences to your family.💐
