On the morning of November 20, 2024, Robert H. (Bob) Wilkinson, Sr., of Philippi passed away peacefully. He was 86 years old.
Bob was born in February 1938 to Moman and Clara Wilkinson. He worked for the American Can Company until retirement then worked for Hunt Valley Golf Club but in between started a home town grass cutting business in Philippi, WV, that began with mowing a few yards for local widows that ended up consisting of 83 yards and 6 cemeteries that also provided work for several young men who couldn’t get hired elsewhere.
Bob was competitive so enjoyed a good round of golf, especially if he was winning, sentimental so loved to tearfully sing about love, especially the love of his Lord and believed in justice so liked to watch a good western, especially when the good guy prevailed. He also loved to laugh so appreciated a good joke, silly saying, or a well-played prank.
He was preceded in death by his parents Moman and Clara, his brothers Clarence, Ted and Richard (Dick), sisters Phyllis and Brenda and grandson Sam.
He was survived by his wife Alice, sons Bob, Jr., and Allan, step-children Ken, Wendell and Paula, brothers Leo, Darol, Sherman and sister-in-law Charlotte, Gary and sister-in-law Deb, Jeddy and sister-in-law Jeannie. And sister-in-law Leta (Linda) Stewart. Grandchildren Carly, Jack, Jamie, Ryan, Whitney, Morgan and step-grandchildren Dean, Ish, Justin, Aaron, Jared, Caleb, Kristiana, Candace, Cody, Joshua and Grayson. And many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
