W. Dale Marsh

W. Dale Marsh, age 87 a resident of Rosewood Center in Grafton and a former resident of Rt. 1 Moatsville passed away Saturday September 27, 2014. He was born April 13, 1927 in Nestorville, WV a son of the late Benjamin Stanton and Dosha Marinda (Nestor) Marsh. Dale was united in marriage on December 25, 1946 to Lelia Margaret “Babe” (Frey) Marsh who preceded him in death on September 12, 2005 Surviving are: Two daughters, Teresa “Terry” Pancake Elizabeth “Libby” Winans and husband Kevin Two sons, John T. Marsh and wife Brenda Kevin S. Marsh and wife Denise all of Tacy Community Sister-in-law, Rose Frey of Moatsville Brother-in-laws, George “Gus” Frey and wife Betty John T. Frey and wife Noretta both of Moatsville Seven grandchildren, Michelle Fumich and husband Walter, Todd Freeman and wife Gwyn, Geniece Pancake, Shaun Pancake, Scott Marsh, Justin Marsh and wife Erica, Brittany Marsh Nine Great grandchildren, Patrick Stalnaker, Brianna Stalnaker, Adriana Pancake, Kelsey Freeman, Kaylee Freeman Chloe Freeman, Jaevion Merancio, Gage Fenstermacher, Adalyn Marsh Great-great grandchild, Mackenzie Stalnaker Dale was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Overton, James and Kenneth Marsh, sisters, Lillian Marsh, Maydell Frey, and Louise Shaw, and grandson Noah Pancake. In earlier years Dale worked for the Barbour County Board of Education in the Maintenance Department and also was a school bus driver, and later retired from the Morgantown Carpenters Union Local #604. Dale served in the US Navy during WWII, he was a member of the American Legion Post #96, the VFW Post # 410 and the Nestorville United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday September 29, from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday September 30 from 8 -11 am at which time Dale will be moved to the Nestorville United Methodist Church to lie in state from 12- 2 pm. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm with Rev. Kenny Kendall officiating. Interment will follow in the Nestorville Cemetery with full military honours being accorded. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Nestorville Cemetery c/o Dottie Freeman 503 Baughman Rd. Philippi, WV 26416.
