Anthony Louis Kolitsch, age 95, formerly of Philippi, passed away Sunday October 11, 2009 at Tygart Center in Fairmont where he had been a resident since April 2007. He was born August 26, 1914 in Appleton, Wisconsin, a son of the late Anton and Bertha (Bainbridge) Kolitsch. He is survived by two children Louis Worthy and his wife Stephanie, who live in Tennessee and Carrie Sue and her husband John Sell of Fairmont. Also one sister Myra Baylor who lives in California.
Mr. Kolitsch was preceded in death by his second wife of 49 years, Marquerite (Hutson) Kolitsch on March 31, 2006. Also his first wife Wilda (Corder) Kolitsch, two infant children, brother Paul Kolitsch, and sister Catherine Kolitsch.
Mr. Kolitsch was a retired Barbour County teacher, having spent 39 years teaching Industrial arts. He also operated Kolitsch Furniture and Craft Shop in Philippi for over 50 years. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post #44 in Barbour County for 64 years.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday October 15, from 5-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. the family will be present on Friday from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. the service hour with Rev. Alicia Rapking officiating. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Cemetery with Military Honours being accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to American Legion Post #44 of Barbour County 44 1/2 South Main St. Philippi, WV 26416.
