The story of Arthur Marsh’s nickname [Shady] . . . as was told to me by my Dad - Eb Marsh. Arthur’s twin half-brothers, Eb and Deb Marsh . . . b1919 . . . were living at home with their Dad . . . Jim . . . and their step-mother Linnie, when Arthur was born. One day, Eb and Deb were sitting on the porch recounting and laughing about a western movie cowboy star and his sidekick whose name was “Buck Shady”. As they laughed about the antics of the sidekick, Buck Shady, Arthur came “waddling” around the corner of the house asking “Wha’ ‘bout Buck Shady? Dad told of his laughing and telling Deb . . . “there he is” . . . “Buck Shady”. The nickname stuck – and – was soon shortened to “Shady”. That was sometime in 1932. /s/ Jack Marsh – b1940 in the same house where EB and Deb – and - Shady were born. In my story of "My Grade School Years" - the name "Shady" appears 17 times. He was special to us kids along Pea Ridge Road near Nestorville.

Shady was a wonderful Christian man. He was a special cousin and a man we also considered a friend. We always loved to talk to him. He had so much knowledge and stories to tell about Pea Ridge and Nestorville folks. He helped sort out the alumni in the pictures we used in the Kasson School booklet. Shady will be missed by his family, extended family members, friends, and neighbors. And I can forget....we sure loved his eggs! ……...until we meet again, Shady.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
