Bryan Dale Townsend, age 45, a resident of Philippi passed away unexpectedly Saturday February 28, 2015 at Davis Medical Center. He was born February 12, 1970 on Philippi a son of the late Kenneth B. Townsend and Patricia A. “Cookie” (Purkey) Townsend and Frank Bolyard of Philippi. Also surviving One son; Ethan Scott Murphy of Philippi One sister; Teresa A. Brown and husband Kenneth Jr. of Galloway Nephew Nicholas Brown of Galloway One brother; Clark Townsend and wife Paula of Clemtown Community Nephew Hunter Townsend One Uncle; John H. Purkey of Philippi Long-time friend; Daniel Glenn Fulton of Elkins Bryan was preceded in death by infant brother Dennis Ray Townsend, maternal grandparents Juanita and John Purkey, paternal grandparents Eva and Darius Townsend, Aunt Genevieve Phillips, Uncle Donald Townsend, Aunt Diana Godwin, Uncle Charles Purkey. Bryan’s request for cremation will be honored.

  1. I am shocked by Bryan's passing. He was a great friend in school and though we had lost touch over the years, I would think of him from time to time and smile. Cookie, Frank, Teresa, Nick, CAB… I'm at a loss for words. My sincerest sympathies.

  3. Cookie, Family, and Friends: I am so sorry about Bryan's death. I remember coming out to the house with your brother a lot. Bryan was always running around and trying to do things that he knew was not suppose to do. But he was always playing with Teresa and Clark, Bryan is in heaven with his dad looking down upon you all. They are trying to keep your hearts and minds filled with good memorials had together. Thanks for letting get to know Bryan years ago. God Bless each and every one of you.

  5. I am currently in shock. I am deeply sympathetic to the family members. Bryan was a huge part of my youth and will forever be in my heart. My thoughts and prayers will are raised for his family and other friends. I will miss his earthly presence. Rest forever in peace, dear friend.

  13. I just now found out of Bryan's passing. I graduated with him in 1988. He was a very nice and caring person. Rest in peace my friend until we meet again.
