C. Tait

C. Richard “Sonny” Tait, age 78, a resident of Rt. 3 Meadland Community Bridgeport, passed away Sunday October 17, 2010 at his residence. He was born December 6, 1931 in Brownton, a son of the late John William and Margaret Helen (Whetsel) Tait. Sonny was twice married first to Connie Lee (Sheets) Tait who preceded him in death, second on June 24, 1996 to Joan (Corder) Ware Tait who survives. Also surviving is:
One daughter: Cathy Renee Blake and husband Austin of Uniontown, OH
Two Step-daughters: Gale Bender of Bridgeport
Lorrie Ann Maxson and husband Richard of Clarksburg

One sister: Janice Rose Tait of Flemington

Two Aunts: Geneva Kloss of Erie, PA
Marguerite Davis of Ray City, Ga

Long time friend: Richard Costello of Jane Lew

one grandchild: Kelly Renee Blake
Three step grandchildren: Brian Bender, Lawrence Anthony and Tori Jo Nichole Maxson

Sonny was preceded in death by two still born siblings.
He was a former employee for Badger Coal Company, and retired as tipple supervisor for Consolidated Coal Company.
Sonny served in the US Airforce from 1950-54 and attained the rank as staff sergeant. He was a member of the Antique Car Club in Bridgeport, and the Bridgeport Baptist Church, Sonny enjoyed making cane’s and birdhouses.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday October 19, from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday October 20, from 5-8 p.m. and on Thursday October 21, from 8 -11 a.m. the service hour with Chaplain Adam Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Grove Cemetery with military honours accorded.
