Chase Byron Compton, age 25, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 20th, 2019. He is missed by his mother, Jane Compton Williams and her husband Michael Williams, as well as his three siblings Elizabeth Jane Williams, Michael Williams II, and Kaleb O’Neil. His mother and siblings are joined in their grief by two loving grandparents, William and Doris Compton, as well as his aunt Amy Compton McKinney, his uncle Luke McKinney, his aunt Tammy Compton, his uncle Joseph Compton, his aunt Lauren Compton, his Aunt Glenda Eakle, her husband Doug Eakle and their children, his Uncle David Compton, as well as David’s companion Martha and David’s son. Chase was also loved by an array of cousins – Mason Compton, Sadie Janes, Abby Vavrick, Ava Vavrick, Roman Fisher, Tyler Beaudry, Logan McKinney, Cody McKinney, Jacoby Compton, and Lain Compton. Chase’s bond with his cousin Mason was more of a bond between brothers, as many who knew them can attest. In short, Chase will be sorely missed by many.
Chase was born September 11, 1993 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He graduated from Robert C. Byrd High School in Clarksburg, where he played varsity football and basketball. He also attended Philip Barbour High School, where he formed lasting friendships and bonded with his teammates. Chase was known by many as a lover of music, laughter, and good conversation. His loved ones cherish their memories of Chase – especially their memories of his silliness, as well as his fierce love for his family and friends. They welcome those who cared for Chase to reach out and share stories and photographs of their time with him.
There will be visitation on Friday, April 26th at Wright Funeral Home in Philippi. Chase’s family members are invited to come at noon, while others should pay their respects from 1pm to 8pm. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, April 27th at 11am at Green Hill Community Church with Pastor Howard Swick officiating and with Nick Mayle as Speaker. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, followed immediately by dinner.

I am so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know chase, but I knew you as a student. I also know what it’s like to lose a child-and so young. I know it’s hard to understand, but we’ll understand it all someday. God has a plan and we must trust him for the strength to get through. I’ll be praying for you and the family.
