Dallas White

Dallas White, age 85, a resident of Rt. 1 Volga passed away Sunday June 27, 2010 at the home of his daughter Rebecca Williams. He was born February 17, 1925 in Barbour Co. a son of the late Virgil A. and Lizzie (Chapman) White. He was united in marriage January 6, 1945 to Veva K. (Burner) White who preceded him in death on March 6, 2004. Surviving are: Two daughters; Rebecca Williams and husband Brad of Volga Regina Talkington of Marlinton, WV One son; Mickey White and wife Aretha of Belington One sister; Ruth Randlett, of Ohio 11 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren Dallas was preceded in death by two brothers; James Dyer White and Ira Virgil White, two sisters; Ruby Booth, and Marlene McCauley. He was a truck driver for Poling Trucking, and was an avid farmer. Dallas was a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church where he had 13 years of perfect attendance. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday June 29, from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday June 30 from 8-11 a.m. at which time he will be moved to the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church to lie in state from 12-1 p.m. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. with Rev. Linda Payton and Pastor Howard Swick officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
