Dorothy Lee Dawson, age 85, resident of Rt. 4 Philippi passed away Friday September 17, 2010 in the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins. She was born February 11, 1925 in Belington a daughter of the late Earl Delaney and Bertha (Cross) McLean Delaney. Dorothy was united in marriage to Charles Edward Dawson who preceded her in death on November of 1986. Surviving are:

Connie Tacy and husband Mike Delley both of Rt. 4 Philippi
Foster daughter: Hazel Clemens of Bruceton Mills, WV
One son: Carl Jones and wife Mona of Shepherdsville, KY
Two sisters: Maple Yeager of Delaware
Nina Chenoweth of Parkersburg
Two brothers: Dennis McLean of Michigan
Ervin McLean of Alabama
Grandchildren: Carl Phillips and wife Tammy of Fairmont, Michael Tacy of Philippi, Crystal Gregory and husband William of Belington, Melissa Foy and husband Jason of Philippi, Linda Moch of Shepherdsville, KY, Rick Gundersen and wife Rosanne of Hendersonville, NC
Great grandchildren: Valerie and Stephen Phillips, Robbie and Joshua Tacy, Payton, Ethan, and Ryan Gregory, Caden and Carlee Foy
Dorothy was preceded in death by one infant daughter, and one brother Sterling McLean. She worked as a cook for the Silent Grove School, and also the City Restaurant, she was also a foster parent for many children. Dorothy was a member of the Faith Way Baptist Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. on Sunday September 19, from 2-8 p.m. and on Monday September 20, from 8 a.m. -12 p.m. at which time Dorothy will be moved to the Faith Way Baptist Church to lie in state from 1-2 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with Rev. Downing Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery.
