Floyd Armond Morris

Floyd Armond Morris, age 83, a resident of Valley Head, WV, passed away Wednesday June 29, 2022 in the Davis Medical Center in Elkins.  Armond was born October 17, 1938 in Kasson, WV a son of the late Howard and Christine (Frey) Morris.  Surviving are children, Rick and wife Mandy of Moatsville, Neal and wife Bonnie of Harrisonburg, VA, Joe and wife Tammy of Harrisonburg, VA, Lori and husband Chris of Harrisonburg, VA, Connie and husband Robin of Clarksburg, WV, Ronnie and wife Debbie of Chesapeake, VA

Grandchildren, Austin, Issac, Garet, Jessi, Patrick, Ray, Freda, Josh, Zach, Erynn, Joseph, Meagan, Caleb, Toby, Jovin, Michael, Sarah.  Great grandchildren, Rylan, Piper, Wesley, Timberlynn, Bristol, Braxton, Brentley, Ryleigh, Chase, Skyler, David,  niece Michele Shaffer and nephew Chris Helman.

Armond was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, HA and Florence Morris and Floyd “Thamer” and Hazel Frey, brother Albert Morris, and sister, Patricia Helman.

Armond worked as a riverboat captain for Campbell Transportation/ Campbell Barge Line for over 35 years and spent most of his life pushing coal barges on the Ohio River.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wrestling, going to auctions, and watching dirt track races.  Armond was a graduate of Kasson School class of 1958.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday July 2, from 2-4 pm.  Funeral services will be conducted at 4 pm.  In honor of Armond’s request cremation will be honored and will follow the services.
