Floyd “Jake” Ashby Lawrence, age 83, a former resident of the Mudgut Community, passed away Saturday September 2, 2023 at Mansfield Place in Philippi. Jake was born May 23, 1940 in Parsons, WV, a son of the late Martin and Inez (Likens) Lawrence. He was united in marriage on August 5, 1960 to the late Norma (Canfield) Lawrence.
Surviving are three sons: Jake and wife Lara Lawrence of Philippi, Ricky and wife Debra Lawrence of Belington, and John Lawrence of WV. Grandchildren Matthew Lawrence of Philippi, Josh Vandevander of Belington, Kimberly and husband Cole Lansberry of Oakland, MD, Todd Lawrence of Flemington, WV, and Aliya Lawrence of Parsons, WV, along with four great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings Mildred Zinn of Masontown, WV, and William Lawrence of WV.
Jake was a laborer at the Canfield Sawmill.
In honor of Jake’s request cremation will be honored.
