Fred Streets

July 4, 1940 ~ August 16, 2012

Fred Junior "Sonny" Streets, age 72, a resident of Volga, passed away on Thursday August 16, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 4, 1940 in Flemington, WV a son of the late Fred Dale and Virginia Marie "Jean" (Kelley) Streets. He was united in marriage to Wilma Grace Streets who survives at home. Also surviving are; Two daughters, Kari Ann Streets of Strasburg, VA Patricia Lynn Streets of Owens, MD Two step-daughters, Sheryl Briggles and companion Mike of Falling Waters, WV Victoria Pridgen and husband Charles of Martinsburg, WV Two sons, Fred James Streets and wife Sherri of Chesapeake Beach, MD Aron Matthew Streets of Strasburg, VA One step-son, George Briggles of Boonsboro, MD Three sisters, Patricia Sandy-Rowan and husband John of Philippi Janet Streets of Parsons Jeanie Sandy and husband Ralph of Langsville, OH One brother, Charles Streets of Buckhannon 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren Mr. Streets was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Streets; Willard Streets and Bernard "Butch" Streets Mr. Streets retired with 35 years as a surveyor fro Pepco and also worked as Safe Way Foods. He served on the Board of Directors for Heart & Hand, Volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital, Treasurer of the Republican Party, Lay Academy- March 24, 2012, Blood Donor for over 40 years, avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his family. Mr. Streets was a member of the Queens Chapel Methodist Church Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday, August 18 from 2-8 pm and on Sunday, August 19 from 8 am-2 pm the service hour with Rev. Randy Simms officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

  1. Mrs. Streets and family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time of a great loss. I went to school with Fred. He was a dear friend and wonderful person.Rest assured that he is now safe in the arms of Jesus. I last saw Fred at our class reunion nearly 5 years ago and was looking forward to seeing him at our next one in 2013. Peace be with you and your family.

  2. We r so very sorry about the loss of Sonny, he was such a great man, always full of laughs, always was so friendly everytime u seen him, he was just all around a wonderful man. We know it will b hard the next days, weeks, and months ahead, but God is with all of u, and he will b there 2 give u strength and encouragement, Again so very sorry 4 your loss, May God bless all of u.

  3. My thoughts and prayers go to Sonny's family. I went to school with his brother and two of his sisters. My sister June was in Sonny's class. I am very sad to hear of him passing away.

  12. Wilma & family, it’s with great sadness that I received the email about Fred. Our jovial, good-humored, wonderful Fred………. So many fun times and he’d always make you laugh. We know he wasn't only your husband; he was your best friend. His passing will not only leave a void in your lives, but in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Fred would want all to celebrate his life and the many lives he has touched……. So I’ll tip a toast to our Buddy Fred.

  13. Wilma,Fred was such a great guy. We had some great times here at Pepco. I will always remember you and Fred helping my wife and I to move to Saint Mary's County. Fred was a very special person. Our prayers go out to you and your family.
