Gary Disbennett, 75, passed away Oct. 30, 2020 at The James Cancer Center, Ohio State University Hospital. He gave Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia a valiant battle for nineteen years, and had been receiving treatment at The James for the past six years. Gary was born August 6, 1945, in Fairmont, WV, the son of Pauline Disbennett. He was raised by his grandparents, Bertha and Warren Shreve. Gary is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Nancy. He is also survived by his three children: twin daughters Darby and Brody (Justin) Polley, and son Tyson, all of Charlotte, NC. The love Gary had for his family was immeasurable.

Gary was owner of KSD Enterprises, LLC, in Clarksburg, WV. They patented the Methane Exhauster, a pump that extracts methane gas from coal mines and have units in the United States and Mexico. Gary’s passion was his work and considered his employees family. He also served on the Board of the Pittsburgh Coal Mining Institute of America.

Gary’s absence will leave a hole in the hearts of so many. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gary’s honor to The James Cancer Center, 460 W. 10th Ave., Columbus, Ohio, 43210, c/o Kathleen Kiene.

Viewing at Wright’s Funeral Home will be Sunday, Nov. 1st from 4pm-8pm and Monday, Nov. 2nd from 8am-1pm, the funeral hour. Graveside service will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. At Gary’s request, the casket will remain closed.

In memory of Gary Warren Disbennett, Toni & Ron lit a candle

As we walk through this life we meet many people some become friend, some just pass by. Gary was on of those people when you met him you wanted to be around him, he made us all feel better about ourselves. Gary was the most admired person I have ever know, he made you feel better just to be around him. Not only did he make you feel better but he made you a better person it was his gift and he gave it freely to all of us.Gary was the best man at my wedding and a year latter I was one of seven, that's right seven ushers all of which Gary had been the best man at our weddings. Think about to be loved by so many who else have you ever heard of doing that, we all love him, he was our brother, and still today he is the best man!

My name is gene rogers and I own a business just down the road from KSD , and have had lots of dealing with Gary. Gary was a great friend and a great person. He will be missed by all and especially me. I have known Gary since Craig Motor days. May he rest in piece and live with Jesus.

Nancy, Tyson, Darby, Brody, Justin & family, Just know that our thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this most difficult time. May God wrap his arms around each of you to give you peace and comfort. Gary, Herman & I are going to miss you a lot! Rest in peace my friend!!

So sorry to hear about the passing of Gary. I knew him back in the early days of Craig Motor Service in the 1960s. He was one of those people who are larger than life, and I'm sure his presence will be missed by so many. My thoughts are with his wife and family as they try to adjust to living without him. He was always an upbeat person and I hope his courage will carry you through with wonderful memories.

I remember as the literal ‘wall flower’ freshman at PHS, I attended my first dance. Gary was the only guy to dance with me. I’ve never forgotten his kindness. He was the best looking boy there!

Dear Nancy, Tyson, Brody, and Darby, Although Carrie and I can't share time with you in person at this time, we do share your grief. I have known Gary for about 20 years. I have only been with him in person for maybe 7 or 8 times in those 20 years, but I considered him one of my best friends in the world - if not my very best friend.. Every time I called him, usually for advice on one of our landfill gas projects, his cheerful voice always answered the phone 'Well hello, Stan Steury!" and then we would spend most of the call talking about our kids and our spouses. It was so obvious that his whole world revolved around the four of you. I am a better man for having known him! Missing him already. Stan and Carrie Steury Vilas, North Carolina
