Geraldine Mae Wright, age 91, a resident of Moatsville passed away Tuesday morning June 1, 2021 at her home at Moatsville. She was born on April 14, 1930 at Moatsville the daughter of the late Howard and Ida (Nestor) Freeman. On November 13, 1944 she married James A. Wright who preceded her in death on August 18, 2004. Also surviving are three sons, Murl Wright, Rickey Wright and wife Bonnie all of Moatsville, and Jim Wright and wife Ann of Philippi, seven daughters, Judie Frey and husband Ronnie, Charlotte Haddix and husband Blaine, Margaret Hathaway and husband Danny, Sharon Ball and husband Richard, Patricia Poe and husband Ronnie all of Philippi, Susie Bolyard Moatsville, Dian Seckman and husband Jimmie of Buckhannon, one daughter-in-law, Sue Humphrey-Wright of Philippi, one son-in-law Darris Marteny of Perryopllis, PA
23 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son David Eugene Wright, one daughter Rachel Agnes Marteny, one daughter-in-law Patty Kurucz Wright and one son-in-law Larry Dale Bolyard, four sisters, Mable Keene, Edna Prichard, Edith Harrison, Delma Bennett, two brothers, Karl Freeman and Junior Freeman.
Geraldine was a homemaker, she liked working in her flowers and vegetable garden. She also liked quilting. Geraldine was a member of the Moatsville Free Gospel Church, and she enjoyed singing.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday June 4, from 4-8 pm and on Saturday June 5, from 8am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm with Rev. Clifford Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Cemetery.
