Zimmy. I remember all those softball money tournaments we won together, and afterwards we would stop. I would have a cold brew and you an ice cold pop. Good times on our road trips to play in some major tournaments and the card games after. All the games in basketball I officiated for you and I was amazed how you could coach and officiated at the same time., RIP my friend GOD BLESS you an your family

Such great memories of trips to AB to watch basketball under Coach Zimmerman. He had winning teams and taught them how to win in the game of life. He has young men still winning.

Sad to hear the news about Kristen's father. I didn't know the man very well but what I remember about Kristen was that she was an exceptional class act classmate at Holy Name High School. An image of her father perhaps? My interaction with coach was brief but I'll never forget my experience with him, 22 years later. I wish the family nothing but the best and hope in this time of grief they find joy in the celebration of his life.

Greg Zimmerman What can I say? A fellow Tuscarawas County, Ohio Athlete and friend. I met Greg through his 1st wife, Heidi. Heidi's family -- the Argentos lived in my school district & attended the same High School. Heidi was a little older but with such a small school--- everyone knew each other. While I was attending ABCollege, I had no vehicle, restricting my ability to get back home on weekends to see my family. As luck would have it, Greg and Heidi resided in the area. They were gracious enough to take me home on several weekends. Greg being the competitor that he was---- the trips were let's say, speedy!!!! To this day, I have never traveled those roads any faster. Luck would have it, we never incurred any tickets. I also had the pleasure/ honor to watch several AB games with Greg at the helm. He was masterful. It was a joy. On a more serious note, Thank you Greg for those memories. You will be so missed. God bless his family. Rest in peace, Greg. Until we meet again. PJ

It was really a shock to hear of Greg's passing. I taught with him when he was coach at FHS. He wasn't there long before we discovered we shared love of great outdoors and passion for archery hunting. I remember one of his archery buddies Homer coming here from Ohio to hunt. Greg and I spent numerous evenings after school hunting. One of his favorite spots I showed him was Canaan Valley. He would return to his family home in Ohio during Christmas break. and would have some of his Amish friends turn some of my venison into trail Balogne . Of course there was always a lot of good natured bantering with Greg and Mike Carry who was head girls coach. Those two guys brought a wealth of basketball knowledge to FHS One loss I wouldn't let Greg or Mike forget was a tennis match between the two coaches who were both athletic and two short rotund guys, Phil Rossano the band director was a pretty good tennis player while I on other hand had rarely picked up a rachet. I don't recall who challenged who to this match but i certainly remember the match. I told Phil I don't know much about this game. He told me to play up close to net and slam it if they lobbed one my way. As luck would have it I slammed first one back between the two coaches and they later confessed they thought needed to avoid me. Consequently they hit them where Phil was and he ran them ragged . I can still hear the two arguing about who should have returned Phil's last return or serve. Those were good days at FHS. RIP my friend

Beth and I would like to offer our sympathy to Coach's passing away. He was legendary in Philippi, and especially as the Coach of the Battlers. His exploits and victories at A-B made him one of the top coaches in the country at the Division II level. I am certainly glad that he came and saw a game at Dover last season. It is hard for me to believe he is gone. Rest in Peace my friend.... In sympathy, Bobby and Beth Von Kaenel
