Ira French Hooton, Jr. age 74, a resident of Philippi, passed away Saturday July 8, 2023 in the United Hospital Center after an extended illness. Ira was born April 14, 1949 in Morgantown, WV a son of the late Ira French Hooton, Sr. and Martha Lozetta (Corple) Hooton.
Surviving is brother; Warren Hooton of Morgantown; nieces, Morgan and Olivia Hooton of Morgantown; and special friend Mary Weekly of NY.
Ira retired from the US Army. He worked as an assistant at the Philippi Library. Ira was very interested in history and enjoyed socializing with his friends. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday July 14, from 9 am- 2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with military honors being accorded.
