Irvin Carl Evans II, age 61, a resident of Indian Fork Rd. Philippi, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 24, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Carl was born July 27, 1956 in Philippi a son of the late Irvin Carl “Choke” Evans and Kathryn (O’Neal) Evans Hall. Carl was united in marriage on December 1, 1979 to Pat (Nestor) Evans who survives at home. Also surviving-

Carl was preceded in death by sister-in-law Helen (Nestor) Shaffer and brother-in-law, Gene Nestor
Carl was a volunteer at the Barbour County Emergency Squad for a number of years. He was deputy sheriff for the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office for approximately 11 years. Later he was the owner and operator of Evans Electronics for 10 years. He retired as an Electronics Tech II for the Troop 3 Elkins Detachment of the WV State Police, and currently was employed with the Randolph County Office of Emergency Management.
Carl was a Methodist by faith. He was 1974 graduate Philip Barbour High School, and attended Fairmont State College. Carl loved the beach, he enjoyed watching Nascar and the old westerns he enjoyed working outdoors maintaining his property on Indian Fork, and loved helping his neighbors.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday June 27, from 3-8 pm and on Thursday June 28, from 8 am – 12 pm the service hour with Pastor Sam Haught officiating. Interment will follow in the Criss Cemetery.
