Isaac MacDaniel

Isaac Homer “Mac” McDaniel, age 101, a resident of S. Main St. Philippi passed away Friday November 30, 2012 in Mon General Hospital due to complications with pneumonia. He was born June 10, 1911 at Shelby Run in Taylor Co. a son of the late Chapen and Lura (McDaniel) McDaniel. He was united in marriage to Lillian Beatrice (McDaniel) McDaniel who preceded him in death on August 19, 1972. Surviving are Two daughters: Nina Beryl Curkendall and late husband Charles of Philippi Nancy Gayle Hedrick and husband Oscar of Silver springs, MD One son: Kenneth H. McDaniel and late wife Patricia of Fairfax, VA Sister-in-law: Violet L. McDaniel of Webster Grandchildren: Terri Riffle, Charles Curkendall, Rachel Cunningham, Mark Hedrick, Beth Hedrick, Greg McDaniel, 13 great- grandchildren Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by one grandson: Michael Hedrick, three brothers and sisters: Forrest McDaniel, Nina Ware McDaniel, Thelma Cooper, Georgia Wiseman, Boyd McDaniel, Merle McDaniel Mr. McDaniel retired from the mines having worked as a mechanic at Galloway Mines, Compass Coal Company, and Mars Coal Company. He was a member of Knights Templar, Shriners, Bigelow Lodge #52 AF & AM, and Tygart Valley #39 and the DeMolay # 11 Commandery. Mr. McDaniel was Methodist by faith. The things he loved most was having a garden to share with other people and his beautiful roses. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday, December 3 from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday, December 4 from 8-11 am the service hour with Rev. Tim Bleigh officiating with graveside rites being conducted by Bigelow Lodge # 52. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
