Jacob Wayne Keener
July 26, 1993 – April 16, 2023
Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Friend, a force to be reckoned with, unexpectedly left his memorable legacy with us April 16, 2023.
Surviving him: his father, Frank Keener (Jamie and son, Shawn Burner), his mother, Karen (Everett Huffman), his sister, Trinity, his niece, Ezmie, and his two children Franklin “Bubby” and Kara Jo Keener, his aunts, Betty (Paul) Miller and Bobbie Jo Sturm, his uncle Mark “Tony” Keener, cousins: Kayla Sturm, Amber Keener (son and daughter: Alex and Amelia), Valerie Welch (son and daughter: Collin and Hannah), Charles Eric Keener, Justin Black and John Paul Miller (daughters: Caitlin and Preslea).
Jacob (is being laid to rest) proceeds in death: his grandfather, Franklin V. Keener, his grandmother, Mildred L. Keener, his uncles Charles Keener and Leonard Sturm and cousin Paula Ann Miller.
“Keener” as Jacob was called by the countless number of people who’s lives he impacted lived in “a one stoplight” town of Philippi, where he attended and graduated Philip Barbour High School in 2012. Being a ‘jack of all trades, having a skilled hand in carpentry and the blood of a coalminer running thru is veins, Jacob followed in his father’s and grandfathers footsteps he became a coalminer.
Although his life, taken from us too soon, Jacob made profound impacts on everyone he ever met. His entire life Jacob lit up a room, children, and animals (honest and genuine judgements of character) were drawn to him and adored him. He would help anyone in need without being asked, he was the first to put you in your place if you were in the wrong but had your back if ever needed no questions asked. Jacob may be gone but he leaves with us his “Keener” legacy.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Sunday April 23, from 6-8 pm and on Monday April 24, from 8- 11 am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
