James Eugene Coburn

James Eugene Coburn, age 86, a resident of Philippi, passed away Wednesday September 1, 2021 in the WV Caring Facility in Elkins. James was born September 28, 1934 in Barbour County, a son of the late Denver and Georgia Bell (Fisher) Coburn. James was united in marriage on July 15, 1977 to Iva Dot (Skidmore) Coburn who survives. Also surviving are children, Kimberly Carder and husband Kenny of Fl Lisa Smith and husband Bert of Buckhannon Kevin Coburn of Philippi Robin Coburn of Elkins Victor Skidmore and wife Candie Grandchildren, Jacob and Ryan Kittle, Tyler Spencer, Lynnse Merfert, Brandon Coburn, Brittany Coburn, Cordell Knittle, Justin Skidmore, Cheyenne Skidmore, Kenny and Kevin Carder Seven great grandchildren James retired as a train operator and had worked for B &O, C &O, and CSX railroad. He served in the US Army from 1954-56, and the US Army Reserve from 1978- 1991 having served in Desert Storm. James enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He was a member of the Valley River Church of the Brethren. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in the WV National Cemetery with military honors being accorded.
