Jeffrey W. Kennedy, age 74, a resident of Philippi, passed away unexpectedly Sunday July 26, 2020 at his home. Jeff was born July 25, 1946 in Barbour County a son of the late Brother Issac and Lillie Virginia (Poe) Kennedy. Jeff was united in marriage on April 2, 1966 to Luwana J. (Newman) Kennedy who survives at home. Also surviving-
Children, Lorrie Ann Croston and husband Johnnie of Moatsville
Misty Dawn Kennedy Smithmyer Reynolds and husband Gary of Philippi
Heather Mayle and husband Israel of Philippi
Jeffrey Chad Kennedy of Moatsville

Sisters, Velma Adams and husband Mike of Philippi
Cheryl Rae Kennedy of Philippi

Sister-in-law, Ursula Kennedy of Beaver Falls, PA

Nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two great grandchildren

Jeff was preceded in death by grandson, Conor Smithmyer, brothers, Vulius Kennedy and Issac Scott Kennedy and son-in-law, William Smithmyer
Jeff worked as mason and was owner/operator of Kennedy Construction. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, Jeff loved watching football and was avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Jeff always cared about others and would make visits to the hospitals and nursing homes to check on members of the community. He enjoyed attending gospel sings, and loved eating sweets especially cakes from Bonnie Belle’s. Jeff was the founder and pastor of the Olive Hill Church which he loved so much.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday July 29, from 5-8 pm and on Thursday July 30, from 8am- 2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. In honor of Jeff’s request cremation will be honored and follow the services.

Jeff was someone that I always look forward to talking to when he came in the office. He always had a positive outlook and always wanted to make sure that I was doing okay. Our conversations that seem like minutes always ended up being much longer. I will miss those times. My heartfelt condolences to the entire family. He was a good one!
