Joy Scott

Joy Lee Scott, age 83, a resident of Rt. 92 Belington, WV departed this life on Friday April 15, 2011 in Ruby Memorial Hospital she had been in declining health for a number of years. She was born June 29, 1927 in Montrose, WV a daughter of the late of Melville and Lena (Murphy) Upton. She was twice married first to Leslie Guy Harsh and Paul "Sam" Scott both who have preceded her in death. Surviving is: One daughter: Pauletta Scott of Belington Six sons: Roger Harsh and wife Rebecca of Fairmont Paul Scott of Maryland Daniel Scott and wife Vickie of Philippi James Scott and wife Deborah of North Carolina Thomas Scott and wife Luann of California Robert Scott and wife Jennifer of South Carolina Several foster children Four sisters: Goldie Parks Josephine Bucklew both of Philippi Gladys Harsh Edna Thorne both of Fairmont Two brothers: Woodrow Upton of Philippi William Upton and wife Karen of Fairmont Several grandchildren, great grandchildren Uncle: Clifford Murphy of Charleston Special niece: Lena "Kitty" Pearce of Parsons, and other several nieces and nephews In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Rev. David Upton, Lee and Thursey Murphy, one special nephew Todd Upton. Mrs. Scott retired from the West Virginia Department of Welfare as a social worker. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and Glenville State College. Mrs. Scott was a member of the Shiloh Church of the Brethern. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday April 18, from 5-8 pm and on Tuesday April 19, from 8-10 am the service hour with Rev. Larry Poling officiating. Interment will follow in the Silent Grove Cemetery.   4. I opened up the ob's and there was very sad new for me to read. Joy was a true friend to me when we worked at HeadStart and I loved her so much. You have my deepest sympathy and regards.
