Kathryn Elizabeth (Spotloe) Maxson, age 95, a resident of Volga passed away Friday November 13, 2015 at her residence. She was born June 24, 1920 in Century, WV a daughter of the late Michael and Clara Jane (Cobb) Spotloe. She was united in marriage to Willard Frank “Bud” Maxson who preceded her in death on October 27, 1979. Surviving are
Three daughters; Sondra K. Maxson Farley and husband Denver “Sonny” of Hampton, VA
Bridget Beth Maxson
Cindy Maxson both of Volga

Three son; Steven Willard Maxson and wife Paula of Fosterville, WV
Rodney “Rocky” Maxson and wife Ann of Williamsburg, VA
Jeffrey Clark Maxson and wife Antoinette of Volga

One sister; Pauline Prutsock of Summersville, WV

10 grandchildren; Alan, Denver, Darl, Angelia, Stephanie Dawn, Steven “Thumper”, Brian, Tracy, Dorsey “JR”, Matthew
13 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren

Kathryn was preceded in death by six brothers, Perry, Guy, Edward, Mike, Leonard, and Dave Spotloe, five sisters, Minnie Payne, Isora “Doadie” Kelley, Marguerite “Rita” Cochran, Madelyn “Pete” Humphreys Lorina Kines.
Kathryn was a homemaker; she worked for Barbour Produce, and Barbour County Club. She was an avid bowler and a Methodist by faith.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday November 16, from 10 am – 2 pm the service hour with Rev. Tim Bleigh officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

I first met Kathryn (Spotloe) Maxson and her family in 1950. In 1958, I married her oldest daughter, Sondra. I loved her dearly. As my Mother-In-Law, she was the absolutely best. I miss her so much and I hope and pray that someday, I get to see her again in Heaven. RIP Mom Maxson. Marrying your daughter was the best thing that ever happened to me. I Love You.

I first met Kathryn Elizabeth Maxson in 1950 when I was just 13. Mom Maxson was my wonderful Mother-In-Law. She gave me my childhood sweetheart and wife of 64 years. I could write a book on the things she meant to me. Shortly after I married her oldest daughter, I asked her what I should call her. I had always called her Mrs. Maxson. She quickly said: "Just call me Mom like the other kids do." And so, it was always Mom. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She was the best Mother-In Law ever. I will always love her and I miss her so much. Rest In Peace Mom. Sonny

Due to sickness, we were unable to attend the service for our Aunt Kathryn. Please know that the family is in our thoughts and prayers!

My thoughts are with the family during this time of sadness. I spent many nights at the Maxson home and remember how sweet Mrs. Maxson was. Steve and Bridget were my friends during grade school and high school. I am so sorry for the loss of your mother.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

We are sorry for your loss and our absence in this time of mourning. I will never forget all the breakfasts and food that we always got from your mom without ever a complaint about the work. Pat and I are saying our prayers for her and all of the family.
