Kenneth Linger Fenstermacher, age 96, a resident of Philippi, passed away Wednesday December 9, 2020 in the WV Caring Hospice Facility in Elkins. Ken was born January 22, 1924 in McWhorter, WV a son of the late Henry Clay and Nancy Ruth (Currence) Fenstermacher. Ken was united in marriage on November 30, 1946 to the Love of his life Iva Jean (Manley) Fenstermacher who preceded him in death on October 2, 2007. Ken graduated from Philippi High School class of 1943.
Ken and Jean have 3 daughters, Kenna Jean (Fenstermacher) Wright and husband Samuel, Nancy Joan (Fenstermacher) Disbennett and late husband Gary, Robin Rebecca (Fenstermacher) Delaney
Seven grandchildren, Wendy (Wright) Owens and husband Brad, Chad Wright and wife Gail, Justin Shaffer wife Sara, Tyson Disbennett, Benjiman Varner wife Kayla, Brody (Disbennett) Polley and husband Justin, Darby Disbennett, Jocelyn Bartmess
Six great grandchildren, Cassidy Owens, Lucus Wright, Reid Owens, Cade Owens, Alexa Shaffer, and Nate Shaffer

Ken was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Fenstermacher and one sister Estleen Fenstermacher Smith and husband Oscar.
Ken joined the US Army on March 15, 1943 and assigned to the Med Det 148 Engr BN as a Surgical Technician, landing on Normandy Beach on the 3rd Day. Ken retired as a Federal Mine Worker in 1982. Ken was a 50 year member with many organizations, Philippi United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Philippi Chapter #41, Grand Lodge of Masons of WV Bigelow Lodge #52 AF & AM, Grand Chapter Royal Arch Mason #39 32nd Degree, American Legion Belington Post #96.
Ken was an Avid Golfer belonging to the Barbour Co. Country Club. Ken also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and working around the house.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday, December 15th from 5-8 pm and on Wednesday, December 16th from 12-1pm the service house with Pastor Rick Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery, graveside rites will be conducted by Bigelow Lodge #52 AF & AM and military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to WV Caring Hospice House, 169 Diamond St. Elkins, WV 26241.
