Lawanda Genell McVicker

Lawanda Genell McVicker, age 89, a resident of Cortland Acres and a former resident of Buck Run 20 in Timberline Resorts, Canaan Valley, WV passed away Tuesday July 6, 2021. Lawanda was born August 11, 1931 in Blackwater, VA a daughter of the late Ewing and Bonnie (Alvis) Willis, after Lawanda was born the family moved to Kingsport, TN for a short period, before moving again to Annapolis Junction, MD. Lawanda was united in marriage on June 5, 1953 to Willard Raymond McVicker who preceded her in death August 23, 2019. Surviving is- Son, John McVicker and wife Peggy of Columbia, MD Sisters, Betty Trott of Dunkirk, MD Judy Lobue and husband Mike of Idaho Grandchildren, Christopher McVicker and wife Eliza, Caitlin McVicker of Towson, MD, and Kevin McVicker of Houston, TX Great-grandchild, Mason Blaine McVicker Daughter-in-law, Mary McGowen, Canaan Valley Lawanda was also preceded in death by daughter, Miriam Joanne McVicker, son, Blaine McVicker, and sister, Eulah Rae McCracken Lawanda retired as a secretary from General Electric. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and embroidering. Lawanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and was a very caring person. The Memorial and Burial will take place Saturday, July 10th at 1:30 pm at the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Laurel, Maryland.
