Lisa Ruth McBee-Granados of Manassas Park, VA joined her Lord and Savior in Heaven on July 25th, 2023, with her loved ones by her side. She was born on June 23,1962 in Roanoke, Virginia, the heart of the Shenandoah. Lisa also had deep roots in West Virginia where her family originated.
Lisa graduated from Waynesboro High School as a member of the graduating class of 1980 and graduated from Radford University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communications, with an emphasis on Radio/TV, in 1984.She went on to have an impressive career in our nation’s capital and northern Virginia as a leader in the communications and telecommunications industry.She achieved many successes throughout her thirty-five years, including award winning production work for the Voice of America and managing customer service networks for satellite.
While at the American Red Cross, Lisa led a nationwide call center during some of the most unprecedented hurricanes, including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.Lisa also held an executive position with the Women in Cable Television Network focusing on directing and supporting chapters across the country and bringing stakeholders together to share ideas, information and to triumph over challenges.Lisa also worked at Intelsat, AG Bell, and Aptive Resources. Wherever she was and whatever position she held, Lisa was always striving to better our world.
Beginning at a very young age, Lisa was known for her open heart, kindness, and welcoming spirit. She was quick to embrace friends with hugs and love, always making them feel accepted and cared about. The memories of Lisa are rich with joy. As one close friend described Lisa’s smile and laugh lit up the room.Lisa enjoyed walking, working outdoors with her family in West Virginia, traveling the world and writing screen plays.Lisa was a member of St. Thomas United Methodist Church in Manassas, VA and a loving supporter of the Children’s ministry.
Her proudest accomplishment, however, was creating a beautiful family with her great love, her husband Walter. They have a beloved daughter Athenae Alexis, born in 2010. Athenae was Lisa’s heart.
Lisa is survived by her husband and daughter, Walter and Athenae Granados; her mother, Patricia McBee; her brother Shane McBee and his wife Deny; her nephew Garret, her niece Ciercy; and Walter’s parents, Rosa and Manuel Vega.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Wayne Lee McBee, her beloved brother, John Wayne McBee, her maternal grandparents, John and Alice “Jerry” Rogers and her paternal grandparents, Wayne and Evelye McBee.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023 at 3 pm in the Mary’s Chapel Cemetery
