Luther “Luke” D. Foster, age 75, of Nestorville, WV, passed away on February 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer at his residence surrounded by family. He was a proud Veteran of the United Sates Army where he served in Vietnam. He was an avid hunter, skilled woodworker and carpenter. He loved talking, walking, keeping track of all current events and spending time with his family. His grandkids and great grandkids were his pride and joy.
He was born April 26, 1949, in Philippi, WV to the late Bernard and Sarah (McDonald) Foster. He was united in marriage to Reta B. Foster on November 1, 1991, in Philippi, WV.
He is survived by his siblings Harold (Debbie) Foster of Springfield, OH, Vincin (Judy) Foster of Buckhannon, Barbara Gillis of Philippi, Minnie (Jim) Stewart of Chesapeake, VA, Arnold (Diana) Foster of Philippi, Ronnie (Debbie) Foster of Philippi, and Mike Foster of Clarksburg. Children Daniel McDaniel, Timothy (Virginia) McDaniel, Randy McDaniel, Pamela McDaniel, and Shelia (Ray) Marsh; grandchildren Kimberly (Chad) Gardner, Jason (Devin)Lake, Brandy Cunningham, Isaac (Lindsey) Tingler, Derek (Shannon) McDaniel, Kara (Adam) Duckworth, Krista Tingler, Krystal (Robert) Snyder, Nick (Brandi) Marsh, Randy (Josie) McDaniel, Noah McDaniel, and Hunter McDaniel; Great Grandchildren Kyler, Shane (Sadie), Ian and Maddison Gardner, Brianna and Bronlyn Cunningham, Ella Tingler, Brooklyn McDaniel, Ava Pumphrey, Destiny Hill, Laiken Drummond and Kaydence and Logan Snyder; many nieces and nephews, a special friend Don Harris and his extended veteran family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Reta, sister Betty Jane “BJ” Daniels; brother William “Bill” Foster; grandson Justin Marsh; daughter-in-law Rosetta McDaniel and brother-in-law Mac Gillis.
The family wishes to give a special Thank You to the VA Hospital and WVU Medicine Hospice and nurse Lila.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday February 25, from 5-8 pm and on Wednesday February 26, from 11 am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm with Pastor Tammy Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the US Army and Belington American Legion Post #96.
