Margaret “Kathryn” (Felton) Freeman, age 94, of Moatsville, passed away on Sunday April 6, 2025, at United Hospital Center. She was born May 15, 1930 at Felton Hill near Arden, the daughter of Hubert Dowden Felton and Floy (Weaver) Felton. Kathryn was united in marriage on August 31, 1946 to Ernest Dayton Freeman who preceded her in death June 29, 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Floy Felton, husband Ernest Freeman, daughter Pamela Ernestine Freeman; brother Sammy Felton; sister-in-law Pat Felton; and granddaughter Stacy Findley.
Kathryn loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, canning, and talking to friends and family on the phone. A devout religious women, and member of the Kasson United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Barbour County CEOS and longtime farm women. Kathryn attended the schools of Barbour County. She was also a former assistant postmaster at the Kasson post office and an owner of Freeman’s Butcher Shop.
Surviving is her loving son and caretaker, Ernest “Dowden” Freeman, loving daughter Kathleen “Kay” (Freeman) Findley and husband Mark; grandchildren Stephanie (Findley) Skidmore and husband Jeffrey, Christopher Findley and wife Nicole, Chad Findley and companion Emily Spencer, Nathan Findley and wife Darby; great children Brandon Skidmore and wife Mackenzie, Alexis Findley, Taylor Skidmore, Hailey Findley, and Abigail Findley; great-great granddaughter Lexington Skidmore and step great-great grandson Liam and Layton Hinchman.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday April 9, from 6-8 pm and on Thursday April 10, from 9 am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
