Marie Gwendolyn King, age 94, was a life-long resident of South Charleston until her health started declining 3 years ago, at which time she moved to Harmony at White Oaks, an assisted living facility in Bridgeport, WV. Ms. King was born March 2, 1930 in Madison, WV a daughter of the late Joe and Helen (Craycraft) Perraut. She was a graduate of South Charleston High School. Ms. King was united in marriage in 1966 to Nathan R. King who preceded her in death in 1995.
During her working career, Ms. King was a medical assistant to multiple doctors in the Charleston area. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and was an avid reader. She would spend countless hours outdoors tending to her yard and garden. Ms. King loved travelling, especially her times at the beach. She also liked to cook for family gatherings, and most of all she adored the time she shared with her grandchildren.
Ms. King was a member of the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Charleston WV.
Surviving are her children, Threasia Witt and husband David of Philippi, WV, Tiauanna Harler and husband Robert of Kentucky, James King and wife Janet of Maryland, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews.
Ms. King was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Helen Perraut, husband Nathan King, brothers Kenneth and Anthony, and sister Geneva.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. She will be inurned by her husband Nate at the Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, WV.
