Michael Roy Johnson, age 51, a resident of Philippi, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday September 26, 2020 in the Allegheny General Hospital. Michael was born February 8, 1969 in Buckhannon, WV, a son of Donald and Margaret (Poling) Johnson who survive in Philippi. Also surviving is companion of 17 years, Tammy Lynn Fridley of Philippi
Two children,
Brianna Brooke Johnson and Joseph Michael Johnson both of Philippi
Sisters, Mary Ann Myers and husband Robert of Philippi
Tammy Kay Lahman and husband Jeff of Montrose
Brother, Samuel Jay Johnson and wife Chastity of Belington
Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews
Michael was employed at Wal-Mart for 7 years as a stocker, he enjoyed spending time with children, and enjoyed canning. Michael was a hard worker and cared for his family. He was a 1987 graduate of Philip Barbour High School.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday October 1, 2020 from 9 am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm with Pastor Samuel Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.







So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. We were friends in school and graduated together. He was pretty quite back then but had a wonderful smile. I know he will be missed by many. May the Lord be with you all during this difficult time.

Mike and Ronnie and Rickey use to pick at me When me and Jonny moved back up there and it was out of fun. He was a funny kind of guy .Also when my daughter-in-law and 2grandsons moved up there with me .Mike Love them alot.And would come bye and played with them. When me and my 2 sons moved to Philippi to be with my mother in law. I knew noone. Mike became my first friend to hand out with. I was going through a hard time and he would sit and listen and give me advice. He also played around with my kids and took them to practice with their baseball before games. We had so much fun together. I dont think I will ever forget the paddle he had mad with my name on it for my birthday. And they all took their turns giving me spankings.lol. Mike my best friend you will be greatly missed. My condolences to your wife, children and family.
Mike, thank you for your past service serving your community while a member of the Barbour County Emergency Squad Inc. Your faithful service will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.
We are deeply saddened by Mike's passing. He was one of the good guys! I will always remember all of the good times we had at the squad. May your family find comfort in always having wonderful memories of your life. Rest easy my friend and God bless you and your family.
