Odell “Junior” Monahan, age 80, a resident of Taylor County, passed peacefully from this Life at Home surrounded by his loving family, on October 27, 2022, on to his heavenly home.
Junior was born October 25, 1942 in Randolph County, a son of the late Odell Monahan Sr. and Ethel (Burns) Monahan. He was dedicated to and survived by his spouse Lynn (McCauley) Monahan, who respected, loved, and cherished him with all her heart.
He is also survived by daughter Heather (Matt) Davis; step-son Adam Carr; sister Wanda (Ken) Butler; niece Missy (Donnie) Channels, Bradley and Connor; niece Amie (Mark) Wamsley and Lydia; three grandchildren; and faithful canine, Cuddles.
He attended schools of Painsville, Ohio. He worked in a variety of jobs during his lifetime including truck driving, road construction, and landscaping, but in every job always ended up “the guy who could fix anything”. He retired from the Kraftmaid Cabinetry Company.
Junior had a quick wit and a joke for every occasion. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, dining out, hiking, and exploring in the mountains, hunting and fishing. He was a true gentleman and perfect companion for his spouse. Also, he took his beloved terrier with him everywhere even inside the Red Lobster.
Junior will be dearly missed by wonderful family, friends, and neighbors who knew and loved him, until we meet again.
Special thanks to staff of WV Caring Hospice, Taylor Senior Center, Vo-tech instructor Jen McWhorter and her CNA student angels Nadalee Scott, Emily Robey, and Owen Parker, and to everyone who helped make a difference on this journey.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Sunday October 30, from 11am- 2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm. Interment will follow in the Pitman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Parsons Church of God, 507 Central Ave. Parsons, WV 26287.

Jr was a true gentleman. He was kind and considerate to everyone and devoted to his wife and cuddles. He was always fun to be around and will be missed
Jr. was a good man, a loving devoted husband, and loved Cuddles(his dog). I’m so glad that he and Lynn found each other. He will be greatly missed.
Jr. was a friend of the family for as long as i can remember. As i got older he became one of my best hunting buddy and friend. One of my favorite memories is helping him drag out his last buck after dark, didn’t think we would ever get out of there but he made it fun. He will be missed😢
Junior was a wonderful person and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Had a gentleness about him and was always a gentleman. Condolences to his family especially to his loving wife Lynn. Sending love and prayers.
Lynn and family,
Sending our sympathy, we are thinking of you. Junior and Lynn were the new neighbors that also walked their dog. Lynn traveled in the beginning so we spoke with Junior most evenings. He would hang his garden goodies on our fence. They have became wonderful friends through the years. We will miss Junior.
Jerry and Coty
I had the pleasure of seeing Junior shortly before his death. He had a great wit and kept us laughing and having a great time every time we were together. He doted on his little dog, Cuddles, and made sure she was taken care of and never left alone. My visit was filled with good times and lots of laughter and Junior made a big difference in the great time I had. Junior’s wit and sense of humor will definitely be missed by all.
May God grant you peace and comfort. You will see him again.
God Bless you. Prayers for the up coming days.
I had the honor and privilege to help care for Jr once a week , although I only had known him for a small amount of time my weekly visits to him and his dear wife Lynn and pup cuddles were always a highlight of my week. Playing pool , watching Gunsmoke, playing with cuddles , or just sitting on the back porch watching the birds he always kept me on my toes , Lynn I love you and please know I’m gonna miss my weekly visits 😢 he was my favorite I’m gonna miss him ❤️
