Dear Donna & Randy: I know this is a path that is going to be hard to walk down and your grief is going to be strong at times....it's a path that all of us have to follow at one time or another in our lives, but it doesn't make it easier. Just know that you have people and family that loves you and will be there to hold your hands any time day or night. Dana lived life the way he wanted to and it was not a bad life. A lot of men would have loved to lived on the land he lived on, eating ramps, raising chickens and dogs, going for rides down West Virginia back roads sipping wine that he loved...he lived a simple life and in today's world that is a rarity. He really had peace already. Dana was so smart and knew things...I loved sitting and jawing with him over history. His family and mine lie side by side in the Harsh Cemetery on Clover and I told him one time I didn't know why it was called the Harsh Cemetery when my Rosiers took up most of the space. He retorted that the land had belonged to the Harshes, "you big dummy." He loved having Alex, who was his honorary kin, coming from Ohio to hunt in the fall. It was the highlight of his year. He glowed when he talked of the kids that he worked with in KidReach. So, while it hurts to lose him, he will always be in your hearts and the million memories you can share with others. He was truly one of a kind and I, for one, will miss him. Love to both of you...
