Phylis A. Flanagan

Phylis A. Flanagan, age 90, a resident of Mansfield Place of Broaddus Hospital and a former resident of Buckhannon and Elyria, OH passed away Monday May 31, 2021. Phylis was born January 22, 1931 in Elyria, OH a daughter of the late James and Ethel (Black) Hambley. Phylis is survived by- Son, Roger Bunton and wife Debbie of Kennewick, WA Daughters, Elizabeth Hammock of Fairborn, OH Rose Coleman of Buckhannon Granddaughters, Michale Jones of Fairborn, OH Lauri Coleman of Vermillion, OH Grandsons, Roger Bunton Jr. of Juneau, AL Robert Bunton of Ft. Worth, TX James Coleman of Buckhannon 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews Phylis was also preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Knerien, and Janette Miller, brothers James Hambley and Robert Hambley, and infant, son Richard Flanagan. Phylis worked for many years at Empire Spring Co. and then opened her ceramic shop “Phylis Clay Pen” which she operated until 2006, when she moved to Buckhannon, WV with her daughter, Rose and until she made her residence in Manfield Place. She was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army Church and was a protestant by faith. In honor of Phylis request cremation will be honored. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

    I remember watching Aunt Phyllis paint her ceramics and was always amazed at her beautiful work! Mom and her talked often up until Mom passed. She never left our family; Flanagan’s!

    Rest In Peace, I’m sure y’all are having a big reunion up above! Boy if only Heaven could talk!

  2. I miss her already. She always brightened my day when she stopped by my office. I appreciated her being my patient and my friend.
