Randy H. Lantz, age 56, a resident of Rt. 4 Philippi passed away unexpectedly Tuesday January 18, 2011 in the United Hospital Center. He was born December 5, 1954 in Philippi a son of the late William Jacob "Bud" Lantz and Vonda (McDaniel) Lantz who survives. Randy was formerly married to Brenda (Ball) Lantz of Belington, and was later united in marriage on February 14, 1992 to Maribeth (Freeland) Lantz who survives. Also surviving are:
two daughters; Chastity Johnson and husband Samuel of Philippi
Marianna Stewart and companion Ryan Murphy of Clarksburg
Two sons; Derrick Lantz of Elkins
Chris Stewart of Philippi
Four sisters; Charlene Cathel of Elkins
Missy Martin and husband Fred of Grafton
Lesa Schiefelbein and husband Tom of Philippi
Teresa Smith of Maryland
Four brothers; Larry Lantz and wife Janice of Midway Rd. Belington
Kevin Lantz and Maggie Tenney of Philippi
Steve Lantz of Philippi
Mark Lantz and wife Rose of Philippi
Former father and mother-in-law; Lewis and Jody Ball of Mansfield Addition, Philippi
Seven grandchildren; Taylor, Blake, Hope, Katie, Abby, Grayson, Raven
several nieces and nephews
Randy was preceded in death by one granddaughter; Tawny Lynn Johnson, nephew Ross Sine, niece Lisha Martin, mother-in-law; Anna May Freeland, Grandparents, Laura and Howard McDaniel and Lucy Lantz.
Randy worked as a heavy equipment operator for ICG Wolf Run Mines in Philippi. He enjoyed hunting, working on cars and equipment, and playing with his grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday January 20, from 5-9 p.m. and on Friday January 21, from 8 -11 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.







I didn't personally know Randy but he was my husband's (Ed's) co-worker at the Prep Plant at Wolf Run Mining Co. Ed always had good things to say about Randy, as a man as well as his work ethics. Ed enjoyed working with Randy and he'll be missed on the job.
Dear Maribeth, I'm so very sorry for your loss, my friend. You and your family will be much in my thoughts and prayers over the next days and weeks. If you need to talk, cry or anything else, call me. I wish I could be there with you for the service. I love you!
