Robert Hughie Lawson

Robert Hughie Lawson, age 89, a resident of Clarksburg and a former resident of Galloway, passed away Sunday April 30, 2023. Robert was born December 19, 1933 in Bloomington, IN a son of the late Charles and Lina May (Arnold) Lawson. Robert was united in marriage to his wife of 58 years Verdinia Helen (Collins) Lawson who preceded him in death on September 17, 2022.
Surviving are children, Steven “Steve” Lawson and wife Cindy of Camp Run Rd., Randy Lawson and wife Jo-Ellen of Mt. Clare, Ronald “Ronnie” Lawson and wife Angela of Galloway, Regina Ketterman and husband Greg of Galloway; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren and expected great granddaughter due in August; brother, Steve Lawson of Bloomington, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Linda Lawson; wife Verdinia; son, Sheldon Robert Lawson; brothers, Jack and Darrell Wayne Lawson; sisters, Sharon Smith, Letha McDonald, and Ruth Ann Lawson.
Robert worked for Blake construction as an equipment operator, he enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar especially when he attended church at the Holy Trinity Chapel.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday May 4, from 11 am- 2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm with Pastor Edward Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.
