Ronnie Brint Johnson, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, at the age of 80.
Born on January 22, 1944, and raised in Johnston County, NC, Ronnie graduated from Smithfield High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a strong sense of duty and commitment. Following his graduation, Ronnie answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. His honorable service is a testament to his bravery, dedication, and values he carried with him throughout his life.
A dedicated and hardworking individual, Ronnie retired from Krispy Kreme Donut Company after an impressive 43 years of service. His commitment to his work and his colleagues was a testament to his character and work ethic. Ronnie’s contributions to the company and the friendships he forged there will not be forgotten.
After retirement, Ronnie continued to serve his community as an active member of the American Legion Post 1 in Raleigh. His unwavering support for current military personnel and veterans was evident through his tireless efforts and involvement in numerous initiatives and events. Ronnie’s dedication to the American Legion and its mission brought comfort and support to many, and his legacy of service will continue to inspire those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Beatrice Johnson; his brothers, Braxton and Ray Johnson; and his sister, Betty Sue Arnold.
Ronnie is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Ball Johnson, who stood by his side through thick and thin, sharing countless cherished memories together. He is also survived by his three children: Ronnie Brint Johnson, Jr., Kevin Lee Johnson, and Kimberly Dawn Olejniczak, as well as his brother, Ricky Johnson. His legacy lives on through his six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will forever remember his wisdom, work ethic, and unwavering support.
Ronnie’s love for his family was evident in every moment he spent with them, and his memory will live on in their hearts. His can-do attitude and his love for church league softball will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held on August 24, 2024, at Montlawn Memorial Park Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to: American Legion Raleigh Post 1, P.O. Box 40097, Raleigh, NC. 27629-0097, in Ronnie’s name.
