Samantha Ketchem Muncy, age 27, a resident of Rt. 4 Philippi, passed away Saturday September 14, 2013 in Ruby Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. She was born September 9, 1986 in Clarksburg, WV a daughter of Albert A. and Susan M. (McDaniel) Ketchem. Samantha was united in marriage on June 18, 2011 to J. Trent Muncy who survives in Philippi. Also surviving is;
One sister, Rachael M. Ketchem of Philippi

Paternal Grandmother, Mary L. Ketchem of Union Community Philippi

Maternal Grandparents, Fred and Nancy McDaniel of Philippi

Father-in-law, Charles Sam Muncy of Philippi
Mother-in-law, Sherry L. Muncy of Arlington, VA

Two brothers-in-laws and sister-in-law; Tristan Muncy and wife Megan and children of Orlando, FL
Troy Muncy of San Diego, CA

Loving dogs Allie and Reney

Several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins

Samantha was preceded in death by one sister Kristen Leigh Ketchem, and Grandfather Marvin F. “Bud” Ketchem.

Samantha was attending the WV Osteopathic School of Medicine where she was involved with several clubs and organizations with the school. She was a member of the Union Church of Christ.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday September 18, from 1-8 pm and on Thursday September 19, from 8- 11 am the service hour with Rev. John Lepp and Evangelist R.D. Ice officiating. Interment will follow in the Mary’s Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established in her memory, Samantha Muncy Scholarship c/o BC Bank P.O. Samantha was a wonderful person, beautiful inside and out. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family during this difficult time. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.

I want to send my condolences to the family at this time of loss, Sherry is my dear co-worker. I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter-in-law, to her family, your family you all our in my prayers. To her husband and Sherry's son I am so very sorry for the loss of your wife. The love and the support from your family and friends and the wonderful memories you have together as a couple won't take the pain away, but will let you know they are here for you. I met her during my foreign exchange student year in WV, is hard to stay away from your family and friends and she was one of the nicest girls I met there, she was something special, always sweet, always nice, always with a smile for everyone, That's how I will remember her. It is so hard to comprehend why Samantha's life ended when she was just beginning so many wonderful parts of her earthly journey. It does not seem fair. Only God knows "why" and only He can truly comfort those whose hearts are breaking. Knowing Samantha was a baptized believer is the greatest comfort for those she leaves behind. I am reminded of the words in the hymn "Does Jesus care when our sad hearts ache til they nearly break" and the answer that "Oh,yes! He cares." May you know God's care and peace in this difficult time.

To Susan & families, we r lost 4 words but wanted u 2 know we have been thinking and praying 4 all of u, this is such a terrible thing, but God was ready 4 her, so he reached down and got Samantha, there is always a reason why God called her home, and someday she will b able 2 tell u why, when we meet her in heaven.
