Sarah Elizabeth Corley-Duckworth, age 39, departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, January 24, 2021, in the home she shared with her husband, Justin Duckworth, and his mother, Penny (Mitchell) Duckworth. She was born in Elkins, WV, on June 8, 1981, to Larry James and Cheryl (Jones) Corley.
Sarah is survived by her two children, Quentin and Maia Daugherty; her two sisters, Ashley (Corley) McMannis and husband Wayne of Belington and Jaime (Corley) Daugherty and husband Joe of Philippi. Sarah is also survived by nephews Taylor Busse and Anthony McMannis, nieces Jaelyn and Janelle Daugherty, and one brother-in-law Mitchell Duckworth and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Larry and Sharon (Dadisman) Corley, John Paul and Mary Elizabeth (Bibey) Jones, Uncles Paul David Jones and Tim Wilson, and Father-in-Law Jesse Allen Duckworth.
Sarah was passionate about singing and playing guitar, and she sang with many notable musicians both locally and throughout the state. She was a gifted, published writer; her imagination and intelligence inspired everyone she met. Sarah also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking. She will be deeply missed and always loved by her family and friends.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 5-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. the service time. Interment will follow in Clemtown Cemetery. Due to the Governor’s Mandate face masks and social distancing will be required for everyone attending the services.
