Sarah Elizabeth Corley-Duckworth, age 39, departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, January 24, 2021, in the home she shared with her husband, Justin Duckworth, and his mother, Penny (Mitchell) Duckworth. She was born in Elkins, WV, on June 8, 1981, to Larry James and Cheryl (Jones) Corley.
Sarah is survived by her two children, Quentin and Maia Daugherty; her two sisters, Ashley (Corley) McMannis and husband Wayne of Belington and Jaime (Corley) Daugherty and husband Joe of Philippi. Sarah is also survived by nephews Taylor Busse and Anthony McMannis, nieces Jaelyn and Janelle Daugherty, and one brother-in-law Mitchell Duckworth and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Larry and Sharon (Dadisman) Corley, John Paul and Mary Elizabeth (Bibey) Jones, Uncles Paul David Jones and Tim Wilson, and Father-in-Law Jesse Allen Duckworth.
Sarah was passionate about singing and playing guitar, and she sang with many notable musicians both locally and throughout the state. She was a gifted, published writer; her imagination and intelligence inspired everyone she met. Sarah also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking. She will be deeply missed and always loved by her family and friends.

Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 5-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. the service time. Interment will follow in Clemtown Cemetery. Due to the Governor’s Mandate face masks and social distancing will be required for everyone attending the services.

I love you Sarah! God brought us together the day I met Sarah and her children at swimming lessons in Phillipi WV! I felt so blessed to met Sarah! We exchanged names of our children with one another ! I remember saying , wow... Quentin? My son is Quinn and the other is Ryder ! We enjoyed watching our children together, sharing smiles and good times . We exchanged numbers and we instantly became friends. Sarah would visit us and I enjoyed the times we sat on the porch enjoying the silence , the sun,, the moon & stars, the evening sounds of nature and her special gift of singing and playing her guitar. I’ve know a lot of musical artist and Sarah was a one of a kind, an angel sent from God to touch our lives ! She was way beyond her time and everyone who met Sarah Corley was profoundly moved by her grace, beauty, intelligence, he way with words & her gift of music. You will always be in my heart forever! You will be missed Sarah! May you have a peaceful transition . Rest In Peace

Cheryl, I am so sorry to hear about Sarah. My heart breaks for you. Even though she was your oldest, she was still your baby. Please know that I am praying for you and the family. I am deeply sorry for the entire family! I'll never forget hosting Sarah's High School graduation party at my home on the river. What a night!

Sarah Elizabeth was the one for so many years that I would call for the truth about my many bad choices and mistakes that I have made throughout my time here on earth. We hadn't spoke in over 2 years and it breaks my heart that I wasn't smart enough to fix it before this horrible tragedy. I love you Sarah and I'm so sorry about anything and everything that happened to cause us to part and go seperate ways. I will always hold you dear to my heart and I can literally hear you singing to me at times. Your beautiful soul will so badly be missed. RIP MY SISTER

Sarah was such a sweet Gal, I Remember her most in Mrs wonkka’s Advanced Choir she so so sweet to everyone in the room she will be missed by so many. My condolences go out to Ashley and Jamie and the Family

Sending condolences and love to Sarah's family and friends. Growing up, Sarah was one of my closest girlhood friends. She introduced me to Mystery Science Theatre 3000, how to correctly proofread a paper, and showed me how I should have been applying my silvery blue 1994 eye shadow. In eighth grade a boy said a mean thing to me, and before I could muster a reply, Sarah leaped forward and let him know that no one would talk to her friends that way. She was loyal, creative, smart, and so, so funny. She could make me laugh until I cried. She was a brilliant writer and thinker, and to this day is someone that I remember as being one of the smartest folks I ever knew. I know she will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her entire family.
